A Day in Dallas.

We had a fun-filled day on Thursday with my friend Liz.

We stood in line for about an hour and a half for Bakerella's book signing. Kimber did REALLY well while waiting.
She went acorn hunting.

She gave me a really pretty acorn.

We FINALLY got to Bakerella and she was really sweet. She commented on my nail polish and my necklace and she thought Kimber was adorable. :)

We also saw my old Home-Ec teacher from high school! She was there with a few high school students that are in her cooking class. Mrs. Hulme is so sweet and she was one of my favorite teachers. I should go to my old high school one day and visit her.

After looking through our new Cake Pops Book, we wanted some cupcakes so we went to Sprinkles Cupcakes in Dallas. It was super yummy.
I got the Red Velvet Cupcake.

And Kimber got the Caramel Apple Cupcake with the ghost on top.

We went to Dolly Python after eating cupcakes. Dolly Python is a fantastic little vintage clothing and antique shop. My mind was going crazy in there. I wanted everything, but I think that the sugar from the cupcake Kimber ate before finally hit her once we got there so we had to leave a little earlier than what I wanted, but I WILL be back over there soon to shop.

DIY Monday! Crochet Triangle Garland.

Today, I'm going to teach you how to make this ADORABLE Triangle Banner. They're super cute and are pretty much perfect anywhere in your house.

*Each triangle is about 3" X 3 1/2"*

SUPPLY LIST:

-Medium (worsted) weight yarn. I'm using some cheap Red Heart Yarn. I find this type of yarn is kind of scratchy, so it's not too comfortable for blankets and scarves so for this banner project, it's perfect since no one is going to wear it.

-Size H/8-5.00MM crochet hook.

-Scissors.

PATTERN:

(for the triangles)
ch 6, slst into first st to make a ring.

Round 1- ch 3, 2 dc in center of the ring, ch 4, 3 dc in ring, ch 4, 3 dc in ring, ch 4, slst into the ch-3 in the beginning of the round.

Round 2- ch 3, 2 dc in next st, 1 dc in next st, ch 2, (2 dc, ch 4, 2 dc) in the ch-4 sp, ch 2, * dc in next st, 2 dc in next st, dc in next st, ch 2, (2 dc, ch 4, 2 dc) in next ch-4 sp, ch 2 **, repeat the directions between * and ** once, then sl st in beginning ch-3 of this round, fasten off.

Don't worry if your triangles look a little wonky. Just stretch them a little and they will look fine. Make as many as you want for your garland. I made five for mine.

ATTACHING THE TRIANGLES:

ch 20, slst onto a corner of your first triangle. Like so...

sc 2 in ch-2 sp, sc 1 in next 2 st, sc 2 in ch-2 sp, sc 1 in next 4 stitch, sc 2 in ch-2 sp, sc 1 in next 2 st, sc 2 in ch-2 sp, ch 15 repeat this process until all triangles are attached, ch 25 and fasten off.

Hang and enjoy. :)

Oh Yeah.

I just bought this little beauty for my Halloween costume.

found here
I couldn't find one exactly like Zooey Deschanel's, but this will have to do. I can't wait to wear it!!! I'm not only going to wear this adorable pinafore dress on Halloween. That's for sure.

Jason got me a couple of cap guns the other day. They're fun to play with.

I've got the hat. See.

I just have to see if it's ok with Kimber if I borrow it. :)

All I need now are some red cowboy boots. I really don't want to buy any, because I know I won't wear them again. Any suggestions?

I'm so ready for Halloween! It's going to be fun this year because Kimber gets to go on her FIRST trick-or-treat adventure! WOOO! I'm currently cutting out her "feathers" for her owl costume. I can't wait to put her costume together!!

This Week is Going to Kick My Tush.

This week is going to be a busy one. Today, while at work, I plan on working on Kimber's owl costume, her granny square blanket and work on at least one more thing on my Etsy Shop. I just posted two new things this morning. Go check it out
I also need to find the rest of my Halloween costume.

I plan on learning some skills on the sewing machine at my mom's alteration shop and eye doctor's appointment on Wednesday, I have a photoshoot on Thursday and I have a book signing to go to in Dallas, vintage shopping at The Dolly Python, Cupcake eating at Sprinkles, eat with some friends in Dallas real quick and then off to a Halloween party ALL on Friday! You got all that? I didn't think so. Haha! Wish me luck! :D

The Thrift Gods Have Blessed Me...

With this wonderful piano!!

Since someone wrote the name "Gabby" in the dust left on this piano, I will name her Gabby. She needs a little TLC and someone to tune her, but other than that, she's a PERFECT addition to our home. We will love her and take care of her. Someone dropped it off at the police department that I work to be thrown away. One man's trash is another man's treasure!!! I love finding awesome free things.

Kimber's Becoming a Big Kid.

I'm starting to gather some items for Kimber's new big kid room and I can't help but be kind of sad about it. She's growing up so fast. :( We ran out of room for the rocking chair, so it had to go into the garage. So many good memories in that rocking chair. I went treasure hunting for about thirty minutes and found two great thrifty finds for her room!! I was proud of myself.

The vintage suitcase will be made into a chest for all of her dress-up clothes. Like this:

Next on my list is a new toddler bed. I have my eye on this one.

I want to be a Go-Getter.

So, I've changed my mind about my Halloween costume for this year. I've decided to be my favorite character from my favorite scene of my favorite movie, The Go-Getter.

I adore this movie. It makes me want to go on a random road trip...minus the stolen car of course.

And it makes me miss Oregon. :(

Buzz, Buzz, Busy Bee.

I went thrift shopping with my mom on Tuesday. SO much fun!! We're going to try to do this weekly. It'll be our mother-daughter bonding. :) I found this super cute vintage camera. I'm not even sure if it works yet. For $7, this might have to be my best thrifty find yet.

It's a Petri 7S. circa 1963. I intend on doing some research on this camera sometime today so I can start shooting with it. I love the leather case that came with it. It also has a little case for the film.

Here are a few photos I found taken with this type of camera found here

These pictures make me super excited about using it!!

Here is a preview of what I've been working on for my Etsy Shop

I worked more on Kimber's blanket. I'm only 1/4 way done. I need to step it up before it gets too cold.

I've been invited to a Starving Artist Showcase where few friends are showing off some artwork. I'm really excited about seeing the pieces. If you're in Dallas, you should come!

I still need to get started on our Halloween Costumes.

This is the costume I'm making for Kimber.
