source Oh man...It's crunch time. Kimber's birthday is less than two weeks away. Things to do before the big day:
1//Buy cake mix for cake and cupcakes. 2//Make a cute little banner to go on top of the cake. 3//Find out how/or if I have enough tables and chairs. 4//Find a sheet for photo booth backdrop. 5//Find LOTS of balloons. 6//Buy table cloth. 7//Find party hats. 8//More party favors for the kids. 9//Face paint? 10//Reserve carousel bounce house. 12//Buy food and drinks including hotdogs, hamburgers, cotton candy, popcorn, and soda. 13//Find a birthday dress for Kimber. 14//Find dress for me. 15//Find music to play during party. 16//Thank you cards. Oh...did I mention her party is the day before Easter?! Oh goodness...talk about one busy weekend. Kimber and I have been listening to a lot of Andrew Bird lately, of course. Hahaha! This is her favorite song this week:
Day 14 - A picture of someone you could never imagine your life without. My sweet baby bear, Kimber. It's strange to think back to the days before I had Kimber. Having a child makes you realize how selfish you really were. You now have a child that is YOURS and it's YOUR responsibility that they become the VERY best that they can be by giving them every opportunity to become great. Kimber is just like me. Very stubborn and independent. No matter how many times she will be given advise, she'll have to experience everything herself and learn the hard way. She's going to be very difficult to deal with when she becomes a young adult. Every time I think about her becoming a teenager, I cringe. At least I know what's to come and how to deal with it. I hope we will have a relationship like my mom and I have now. I seriously don't know what I would do without my mom. My mom always tells me how much I'm like her and how much Kimber is like me. I love how Kimber stares at me while I'm getting ready in the bathroom. She loves to put make-up on with mommy. She's always asking questions and she's ready to learn. The other day she was talking with my mom and she said,"Nanny, I want to go to school." Just out of nowhere. She doesn't even know anyone her age that goes to school. I guess this means I should look into some pre-schools in my area. I was going to wait until she was 4 to put her in pre-k, but if she thinks she's ready then I'm all for it. I will enroll her in dance classes this year too. I can't wait to see her in a little ballet slippers and tutu. She's going to LOVE it! I'm also planning on having her take harp lessons when she's a little older. With a child like mine, you HAVE to keep her constantly busy, or she'll become bored and crave challenges. Just like me! I can keep going on and on about her, but I'll spare you. I'm SO blessed to have such a wonderful, smart, beautiful and loving daughter. I don't know what I would do without her in my life.
A circus party, that is. Kimber's birthday is coming soon and I wish I started planning earlier. I've been planning, but it's been all in my head. I haven't started on anything until now.
I just bought these goodies for her birthday party. bought here AAAAND this adorable dress for Kimber. bought here
I still need a LOT more. EEEK! My main goal today is to get invitations. I guess I'm off to Hobby Lobby when I get off work. :)
It began with a 6 hour drive from Fort Worth to Orange, TX. We passed by a lot of really old historic towns on our way there. Then pine tree forests that go on FOREVER. So peaceful. Kimber and I hanging out at the hotel room eating trail mix. :) We went to a couple of cemeteries to pay respect to our loved ones we miss so much. My Paw-Paw.
My mom's cousin, Bobbie Lee who was hit by a drunk driver while walking down the road with her friend and sister-in-law, Vickie. She looks a LOT like my mom. This case actually went to the U.S. Supreme Court on my mother's birthday, February 22nd, 1982. You can read the story here. My Maw-Maw. (My Mom's Mom) My Great Granddad, Emery Lee Folks. He was awarded a Carnegie Medal. His story found here. We went to Trade Days in Orange. It's a indoor/outdoor flea market and farmer's market. They had pony rides!! Kimber was pretty excited. Meet Oreo. He's the cutest miniature horse EVER!! Orange Lions City Park. This is a fantastical wooden castle wonderland. Holy crap. If I could fit in there, I'd have a blast. Little Miss Ryelee. We had a fantastic visit with my Aunt Rhonda and Uncle Peanut. On our way back home we decided to stop at the Lutcher Memorial Church Building to take pictures. This building was the first public building West of the Mississippi River with air conditioning. Two hours into our trip going back to Fort Worth, we passed by a small town with old buildings EVERYWHERE. I had to stop at this one abandoned shop with no roof and take pictures of Kimber. PHEW! Lots of pictures. This isn't even half of them. OH! I did get some goodies at the Trade Days and at the local thrift store. I will save that post for tomorrow.
